Everyone Has Their Limits

I have been reading through some friend's LJ posts that have been making me see things that parallel what I am going through and it makes for a surrealistic morning.
jiyu "aka Cap'n Rae" has been talking about the stress of doing like three people's jobs. I always thought myself good at dealing with stress. Sometimes this means people will see me as a cold calculating bastard, but I was accepting of this. I have just recently made an effort to seem less "vulcan-like" without going to the other end of the spectrum. This past week (as some of you friends who are local to me know) I have had more dealing with government agencies and idiots then even I can handle. Stress headaches every day... not quite as bad as the aforementioned Captain, so to her I say... unwind... NOW!!! ;)
ptlee has been talking about "just hanging out". The stress headache mentioned above kept me from "painter's night" at the Dane. I was really bummed out about it, because I could have used that. I also remember a few years back after losing all that memory I met up with some of the old friends from high school. Honestly other than college I had no idea why we had lost contact. Now it was, "Well, great to see you again." Makes you wonder how good of friends you really were... especially when you can't remember a lot of those years.
Also, I have noticed a stronger group of "online friends" than I ever had before. Yes it is surreal in the fact that some of these people I have never met face to face, but comforting in the fact that there are few sections of the US I can travel to and NOT know someone close by. Someone with similar interests. A network of people. I can go to almost every major con that WizKids is at and have a friend local there -- that makes me smile.
And finally I had two moments that added to my weirded out feeling today. First off was at the gas station having someone just say, "Warm enough for ya?" First off, do I know you? Secondly, even though we are in the "sweet monkey jeebus" section of wind chill today I still have not broken out the winter coat. So I had an almost instant "Dr. Cox-ism" pop into my head that I had to forcibly throw the switch to shut off the "highway" between my brain and mouth before I let that one out. If you have no idea what I am talking about, watch Scrubs and get back to me, newbie. ;) Shortly after that, I had one of those bigger pickup trucks pull up. Not the F-350, but one of those 150's with the V-8 Triton in it. He goes to start gassing up on the other side of the pump and notices it is diesel. He puts it down and says to me, "Man, you know you're putting diesel in that thing?" Again, I bite back the "Cox-ism" and reply with just, "Yup, thanks."
And last, but definitely not least, there was the two posts from my friends page. One was a link from
julzerator to here:
